Flock Safety Transparency Portal
The Millis Police Department uses Flock Safety technology as an investigative and public safety tool. Flock license plate readers capture objective vehicle-related information that can assist officers with criminal investigations and locating missing or endangered persons.
The Department primarily uses Flock’s retroactive search capabilities to investigate incidents after they occur. Flock may also provide real-time alerts when a vehicle associated with a missing person, AMBER Alert, Silver Alert, kidnapping, wanted individual, or active criminal investigation passes a license plate reader.
The Millis Police Department is committed to using this technology responsibly and in a manner that respects individual privacy. Department policy establishes authorized uses of the system, access requirements, documentation procedures, and prohibited conduct.
Transparency is also an important part of the Department’s use of Flock Safety. Usage statistics are made available to the public so residents can better understand how the technology is being used.
Flock Safety does not replace traditional police work. It is one of several investigative tools used by the Millis Police Department to help solve crimes, locate vulnerable individuals, and improve public safety.
